The bullet blasted through an artery--that's all it takes.

Ohhh okay. Selena was a natural beauty. Not sound like creepy but she was even pretty in that picture that is posted of her gone.

    "Selena Forever, The Musical"
    http://edgallardo.com/selena.htm

Lead actress Veronica Vazquez gives Selena her all, belting out her hit tunes with all the energy the slain Tejano star poured into her music. She plays Selena as more than just a star - she plays her as a flesh-and-blood woman, making the sense of loss at the end of the evening that much more profound.

Funny story: I, like all of you, have searched the web far and wide for pics from the morgue. One night I stumbled across a link and (hoping against hope) clicked on it. When the page loaded I found the usual pic of her in the casket at the funeral. Then I scrolled down and see some autopsy photos...lo and behold, who am I looking at....JonBenet Ramsey?!? So odd!

They weren't remotely gross (or oogie, to paraphrase Scott on the main site's Subpeona page). She was lying face down on the autopsy table with one small entry wound just below the shoulder, where she'd been shot by that woman.

Selena was so beautiful and seemed like a sweet girl. It is a shame that her life was ending by an ugly troll.

I´m a great fan of Se****´s (the singer whose name rhymes with Subpoena) music. I was only 4 years old when she died, but when I was 10, I listen some songs of her, like "Amor prohibido". I didn´t listen another song more of her to last April, when I found information about her funeral, and I decided to listen another time her music. I loved her songs...
I think that she was a good singer, and a very good woman: she loved a lot his fans.

I know what you mean. Thankfully the photos were tastefull (well as tastefull as you can get) in that they never showed her face. However, I'd seen those pics several times before so I knew who they were of.

I might not be a Selena fan, but just to refresh my memory, read through some of the posts. I went to Selena's husbands wikipedia, and it seems he has a facebook page! Interesting enough, and I imagine someone would like to see it. He seems to post regularly as well. The link to it is on his wikipedia page

It must have perfectly hit an artery. Sometimes the bullet ricochetts and tears into the heart. Not saying that happened here though. It looks like the blood loss llead to cardiac arrest but you would think a very good trauma surgeon/team could've given her the blood she neede and saved her!

Selena's husband, Chris Perez has written a book - on sale March 6th - has the last photo ever taken of her. Some people in Texas already have it. I can post pix next weekend when I'm back in Vegas and can scan them. He is doing a book tour in
Texas and doing some signings, I'm bummed I don't live there anymore.

Far as I know they're still in contact and have some degree of a relationship. I have no idea if they're close or whatever but they do go to Selena related functions, etc. together. I have the feeling that the father never did like him because once Selena was married, he lost that much more control. I know in the movie it makes it look like the dad accepted Chris after the marriage but I think that movie was so sanitized.

As for Chris getting remarried and having kids, that has been a source of contention with some Selena fans. I was reading a message board devoted to Selena not too long ago and some of her, um, more rabid fans still go on and go about how disgusting and disrespectful it is that Chris eventually remarried and had children. Considering Chris was like 25/26 when Selena died, I think it a bit much to think he was never going to be with another woman again let alone marry or have children.

I believe Chris and his second wife are now in the midst of divorcing.

    Great info, thanks!

Yeah, they were so young. I have often wondered how his second wife felt if he was close still with Selenas family (or even in contact with them) since they had no children (he and Selena)

i think there should be a period of time for grieving and then eventually allowing youself to love again. if chris went out and was dating a few months after her death, yeah i can see fans getting upset and stuff. but if he waited a few years, he should be allowed to love again. im sure he loves her as much as he did when she was alive, just because he remarried doesnt mean he has forgotten about her.

Interesting interview. I guess I was right when I said that the movie was pretty sanitized because Chris confirmed that he really didn't tell producers/writers the real story about he and Selena's relationship. He also said he didn't tell Selena's family when he was writing the book so you know Daddy Q is probably pissed. lol

I can't wait to read it now. I ordered it off Amazon last night. The reviews are gushing as usual but I hope it's still good.

I agree. I think it was like two years before he got with his second wife. I think that's more than a respectable amount of time, especially considering the circumstances. They had a child first I believe, then married and had another child. I think they got divorced in '08...something like that.

Again, the message boards were full of people talking smack about her (the second wife). I don't know all that much about her. She was supposedly an ex-stripper.

I actually like a lot of Selena's music and from what I've heard she was a sweet person (you know where she DIDN'T get that from).

But Chris had every right to move on. Until death do you part. It's none of anyone's business.

As far as his second wife...you know, it must suck to be known as the spouse of some famous person's widow.

You know, I'm a Christian. I believe in using natural remedies instead of FDA-approved chemicals (which attract ambulance-chasing lawyers later on) for stuff (that echinacea tea really seemed to kick my cold's butt--it wasn't as bad as it normally would be and it went away a lot sooner)...but I'm definitely not against blood transfusions if they're needed.

I believe Selena and her family were Jehovah's Witnesses which is why here daddy cried foul at the blood transfusion. I didn't know the JWs didn't believe in that kind of intervention but then again, I know nothing of that religion except that they come to your door with their Watchtowers.

I do feel a bit sorry for Chris' second (now ex) wife. She still gets a lot of mud slung at her simply because she married Chris. I guess a lot of Selena's fan excepted Chris to be a professional widower for the rest of his life. I suppose that's a nice, romantic notion but again, dude was young and deserved to have the option to move on with his life.

Was Dead Tejano Singer whose name rhymes with Subpoena a native Spanish speaker? In the movie with Jennifer Lopez, I remember it showed her trying to learn enough Spanish to speak to reporters but I didn't know if that was accurate.

No she wasn't. She knew a little but wasn't fluent. She learned to sing in Spanish phonetically.

As an aside, I got Chris Perez's book, To Selena With Love today. It's a bit of a snoozefest. Only a few never-before-seen pics and nothing really earth shattering in the way of gossip or revelations. He also doesn't talk about his life after Selena which I guess makes sense because the book is about their relationship. It was almost like the movie but in book form.

    Hello,
You know since her death happened, I remember hearing this. I remember hearing a lot of speculation that they did get her to the hospital with a good chance of patching her up but due to her family's religious views the proceedures to save her life could not be taken. I myself not knowing much about this myself I decided to google it. I got this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah...d_transfusions

I was surprised there was an article dedicated just to this question, which I guess means a lot more people wonder about this than I though.

I think when I get married I will tell that guy that if I die he should take the time he needs, but move on. Be happy. I never understood why people get that way. When my Grandma died I think it was about 3 years later that my grandpa ended up wanting to get remarried, and my aunts threw a giant hissy fit. I just couldn't understand why?

I can sort of understand. In theory, I'm always happy to see people move on, but I had a hell of a time when my mom stopped wearing her wedding ring. My dad had been dead for five years, and she wasn't even dating, but I took it really hard. My brothers looked at me like I was nuts though.

I think most people have such a romanticized view that a lot of them really believe that love should be forever when you're a fairy tale celeb.

IMHO never trust a relgion that tells you that you should die because god would be mad at you for saving yourself.

Just to clear it up, Selena did get the tranfusion. It just wasn't enough to save her because the bullet severed an artery. I think her dad did make a big stink about it, but the doctor who treated her said she was in no position to approve or disapprove any kind of medical intervention so they made the choice.

Personally, I don't agree with the whole "let God heal me thing" because I'd likely be dead by now from some childhood illness or other junk I caught while working for the prison. I think God gave man the knowledge of medicine and the human body for a reason so we should take advantage. I can sort of understand the transfusion thing though. Some religions believe that your blood is akin to your spirit so to take someone else's blood is like taking someone's spirit or something like that.

Well, you were personally connected to your father so that kind of response makes perfect sense. Those fans on the other hand just knew Selena from her public image. To be honest, some of them seem a bit unbalanced.

I'd think it much sadder if Chris had sat around just wallowing in his misery. He spoke about how he walked around like a zombie for nearly a year after Selena's death and delved into drugs and alcohol because he was so lonely and distraught. I think him moving on, having children and remarrying likely saved his sanity and his life.

Did anyone see that interview with Yolanda back in '09 I think? Where she makes crazy allegations? I saw the interview online on utube but its in Spanish. Anyway, her crazy allegations was that Selena was not happy with Chris. That she was unhappy in her marriage and wanted out. That Selena had sexual relationship with her previous doctor in Mexico. The creepy part is that Yolanda says she has a video of Selena and this Doctor having sex. She claim she has it kept save in a bank were she pays monthly to have it stored. The doctor was interviewed and said he never had a sexual relationship with Selena but that Selena did confide in him that she was unhappy in her marriage and wanted a divorce.

There was way more stuff she said but I can't remember but it's lunatic and interesting. Lots of stuff about Abraham and his weird obsessive/controlling ways (which could be true).

Ah her anniversary is coming up too!

Why would Selena's parents have any say-so about her care at the hospital anyway? Wouldn't Chris be allowed to make that decision since he was her husband??

Yeah, I've seen that. I also read a book that claimed Selena was having an affair with some Mexican doctor (can't remember the name at the moment). Personally, I think Yolanda is full of shit. She was on Selena's Behind the Music acting like she had some secret too and of course, she didn't reveal anything.

I think Selena's marriage had some ups and downs but as far as cheating...eh, I don't believe it. I think Yolanda was a psycho who was obsessed with Selena and killed her because she was about to be found out. As far an Abraham being a control freak, I believe that but the rest of Yolanda's claims are b.s.
