Has anyone read Jackie's book?
OLA fire
The photo of "the boy" is a fantastic find!
That is twisted!
resent:)
At the begining of each chapter there is a small piece on "the boy" most of which is in TSWTA. Maybe I can find someone with a scanner.
Todd- did you get my PM?
The dvd was amazing! I sure wish I knew how to make copies. So far "No Disposable Kids" is a HUGE disappointment!
So glad I only paid 99 cents plus 3.99 shipping.
Finally I got my copy of Angels Too Soon on dvd:) unfortunately, I won't be able to watch it until late tonight! :(
Right. But was it that grandfather that lived with "the boy", his mother, step-father?
In the book TSWTA it mentions that "the boy" lived with his mother, step-father, and grandfather. Does anyone know if the grandfather was the step-father's dad or the mother's step-father, "the...
In the book TSWTA, "the boy" said that he set his first fire at age 5. I am hoping that "No Disposable Kids" will give more family background.
That is possible. We just had a case here where a man was acquitted of beating a priest who molested him and his brother in the 70's.
My copy of "No Disposable Kids" shipped today:) While I am not looking forward to all the psyho-babble (I worked eight years in adolescent psych), I am looking forward to reading more about "the boy".
It makes me wonder if the mother resented "the boy" and treated him terribly. If I recall there was something in TSWTA where neighborhood kids recall her as not being so nice. And I have wondered...
Did many of the children or nuns name "the boy" on that day?
If anything happens to me or my people, I want YOU on the case!:)
I don't think that we have been barking up the wrong tree. Lots of fantastic detective work by so many different individuals has made this thread so awesome. I think that "Andy Lego", and I hate to...
Welcome, Downstate! :)
A while back someone posted that they had an address in CA for "the boy" could someone please PM me that info?
Thanks!
At the time of the fire "the boy" was using his mother's maiden name. His mother married in 1959. By the time of the confession, "the boy" was using his step-dad's last name, a name he used until he...
Question: In October 1961, the mother of the "boy" was three months pregnant. The step-sibling would have been born April or May 1962. A few months before me. Does anyone know if this child was/is a...
[QUOTE=luckyinlove;1310943]I know people have concerns about disclosing the name but c'mon, many other criminals (children, teens, and adults) have had their names revealed to the public and to the...

Starr Commonwealth Boy's Center in Albion, MI, where "the boy" received psychiatric treatment to "help cure him of his fetish for starting fires". He remained here from 1962 until his release...

TSWTA, regarding "the boy", as an adult, "He was still bitter over the way he had been treated in the hearings in Family Court. "Ever hear about child...
Such a nice looking boy. My dad also played accordion. I think it was a popular 50's thing. He still has his and I wonder if John's family still has his too.
Mammy - I have yet to read alot about the Station fire. It's on my list. Behind the Cocoanut Grove fire and Beverly Hills Supper Club (in your neck of the woods). Anyway I have never been a fan of...
I know what you mean. I just got an e-mail from Amazon and mine shipped today. I am so excited!:)
Linnie- couldn't it be possible that wife, children, grandchildren knew he had some kind of issue with fire? Maybe not specifcally OLA. But I don't think that arsonist just "retire" and I would bet...
There are a few quotes by the "boy in TSWTA. It states something about two brief interviews. I am assuming with the authors. Does anyone know when that was?
I was one years old when this happened. I'd say Powell lived 49 years too long!
I wonder how many more fires he started after being released from treatment in Michigan and could you think of a more perfect profession for an arsonist than truck driver?!
I have just ordered "Fire In The Grove". Has anyone read it?
So much information on this thread since the early posts. You hags (and you know who you are) have done some amazing research.
Thank you!!! :)
Town Hall Bowling Alley Fire - 4 people killed.43107
I wonder, aside from his mother and step-father, and possibly his quite younger half brother, if anyone else in the family really knows. I would never dare to contact them to ask, but I am really...
Opinions? Should he be outed?
After setting fire to an apartment building on October 25, 1961, the "boy", who was collecting for his newspaper route, asked a woman who lived across the street from the building, "can you smell any...

Totally agree! And his family has done one hellva job protecting his privacy! Wish we could see an adult photo of him. I can just imagine that he somehow looked creepy as hell! Could someone please...
John Kennedy, a private fire and arson investigator, was hired by Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, the insurer of the OLA school building, and according to the book TSWTA, his December 3rd report...
I finished the book last nite. Waiting for the dvd.
As I am reading, so rudely interrupted by work, I keep wondering what that little bastard though while all this was going on. Did he stand on the sidewalk and watch his peers jump from the windows?...
Agree!
Yesterday I got my copy of TSWTA in the mail. I am about half finished. Restless night's sleep.
Am looking forward to the arrival of Angels Too Soon DVD.
Alan - I thought I had also read a...
Terribly sad. Billy was a very handsome lad.
I truly wish that the Hances would speak out because I just don't understand them. Could they have been that out of touch with Diane's problems to have felt comfortable enough to let her spend time...
Not in any order... OLA fire, Diane Schuler, swordfish boat Andrea Gail... just to name a few.
