I quit on Chantix also. I am almost at my 1 year point. I do not have any cravings now. I think my my weight gain has been non existent because I started exercising daily a few month before I quit. I had tried so many times in the past to quit and never made it past 1 day.

I was told in November 2008 that my Military career was over. I was 8 months short of my retirement and being deployed. I passed all medical standards (barely) except for weight and cholesterol. The doctors doing my screening felt that even though I passed, my results were too high as a whole. My CO went to bat for me, and set up a plan for me to stay in under certain expectations. I had to sign a letter stating I would submit to weekly weigh-ins, maintain a log of exercise & diet, receive counseling on exercise & diet, and quit any and all use of alcohol & tobacco. I also agreed to take cholesterol medication and baby aspirin. I signed the letter Dec. 23rd and smoked my last cig on Dec. 24, 2008. It is the single most difficult thing I have done. I find being around smokers does not bother me, but it is the most difficult time to not want one. I am probably one of the few that can say being in a war zone is actually improving my health.
