Lol. I love how people slag off people like Paris and Nicole, simply for being ''famous for being famous'. I can guarantee if any of you were in the position they are in, and that age. You woulda done exactly the same. They're famous for being famous, oh no. What a travesty.

These kinds of personalities have been around for years. No one has ever taken them seriously and I see no need to start now. What they boil down to are advanced hangers on with no discernable talent and yet some kind of small hook of freakishness – usually relative to their specific time period - that keep a certain portion of the population interested for awhile and most everyone else who happen to notice, mildly amused. If they had slightly less ability at achieving fame for doing basically nothing, they might be doing the rounds on Jerry Springer and Maury Povitch. If the tongue in cheek, supercilious way in which they are regarded is ever a problem for them there is an easy way to avoid/end it…they can either quickly drop out of sight without being missed for long or wait a couple of years until they are inevitably replaced. And, while I see this as a merely an odd career choice and not much more - I can honestly say; if I were the same age or had the opportunity, no; I wouldn’t. I have a little more pride than that. I'm not saying people have taken them seriously. But people are obviously interested in their lives or they wouldn't buy the magazines/watch the tv shows that they are on. In essence, it's the public who had contributed to their fame, if no one was bothered about them, they wouldn't sell papers, I just don't get why people rag on them so much. They live their lives the way they choose to. As long as they aren't harming anyone else I don't see the problem. No one forces you to take an interest in these people. But some people do, and fair enough. Paris Hilton is labled as 'a rich attention whore' and thats the image she plays upto. She's just become a charicature of herself. But thats it. People look at their lives as entertainment. There's no harm in it.

Wasn't one of them (or both) fairly recently busted for drunk driving? The rest of what they do may not be hurting anyone, but THAT has the potential to KILL someone.

I think Paris Hilton was, but thousands of people everyday drink & drive sadly, and many ''credible'' stars have also been arrested for the same offence. It's not a trait accredited only to rich famous whore's unfortunately. lol

I'm in no way defending what these people do, and for me personally, I couldn't give a monkeys ass if they vanished into thin air, I just don't understand why people hate on them, when it's the public, be it through negative attention or positive, that made them famous in the first place, and keeps on rolling in the cash for them, they're laughing eitherway.

You have a point - supply and demand - can't really argue with it. Actually, when I think about it - I almost feel sad for Paris and a few of the others who seem so strangely and basically clueless. Sometimes I'm not sure it's an act - other times...

Yeah, and if they ever did want to try and do anything credible, they would never be taken seriously. If they went to Africa and fed a thousand starving babies, geniunely, because they wanted to, [doubt it will ever happen, but as an example lol] it would be for ''publicity''. I think they just find it easy to live the way the public wants them to.

SuckMyKiss makes a good point that even if these "celebutards," LOL, were to do something genuinely altruistic, they'd be regarded as having acted with suspicious intent. And she's correct that thousands of people drive drunk every day, but we don't get to hear about those no-names. We only hear about the "famous" ones.

I guess there is just something about celebrities that we hold them to higher standards, have different expectations of them, as the gazing, drooling public, and when one of them does something odd or illegal, we're all over it like a bulldog on a pork chop. Fair? Maybe not. But it's human nature. We all love to gossip and debate; if we didn't, this forum wouldn't exist, heh heh.

To tell you the honest truth; after years of watching the parade of both celebs and celebutards (that is so great) trot by, I actually have lower expectations of most of them...and the high profile ones rarely prove me wrong. Then again, I don't recall any of them applying for canonization or signing up as a world role model.

Paris has one DUI arrest and conviction, Nicole has two. Both are currently on probation, I think Paris' is almost up, Nicole has like 5 years to go.
I liked them on the Simple Life, they're funny, but I don't get it, with all the money they have, can't they have a driver or a limo? I really don't get it.

Hows this?

I sent this idea to a t-shirt company i purchase from and they went with it. Got some neat free stuff and one of the shirts in my big ass size. I think the sentiment kinda covers these gals. Although the parents need to shoulder some of the blame.

I think the media & the buying/viewing public should take some of the blame for creating them. If they weren't "selling" they'd all be Kim Stewart.

Didn't Paris' grandfather disinherit her ass because of the dui crap? Hell I would if it was me. She a no talent, airheaded, giggly cheerleader media whore that needs to go away. Paris was already famous pre-Simple Life days, simply because of her LAST NAME. Nicole unfortunately learned a wee bit too well from her adopted mother and step mother. Yes, I said adopted. Lionel and his first wife adopted Nicole. The adopted mother always seemed to come off to me as a bit of a bitch...at least that's how she comes across in still photos. As for Lionel's 2nd wife, the way the divorce makes it look like shes a money grubbing whore. Nicole became famous pre-Simple Life days because of who her daddy is. Nuff said.

I think in a weird way they're a throwback to the glamor starlets of the 50s.....I don't like the DUI crap, but at least they dress up. In the old days they would have been under studio contract and sort of managed and protected--they way they did skanks bank then. Paris is really beautiful.

Personally I don't like them because they are irresponsible. Whether anyone in the public eye likes it they become role models to the young...then they are emulated by the young and so are the choices they make...i.e. drinking and driving, dressing like sluts etc. etc. I remember when Britney first came out and young girls wanted to be like her......she's a disaster now!!
I thinkk they have the right to dress and act asthey choose ....they are guaranteed this right here BUT I really worry about today's youth with these people to llok up to.
And yes I know parents should monitor thei kids but look at the news...they don't always do this and that's a fact.....jmo

Say bye bye to a big hunk of your inheritance, Paris! Barron Hilton, the heiress's grandfather, has announced that he plans to donate 97 percent of his $2.3 billion fortune to charity

updated 12:53 p.m. PT, Wed., Dec. 26, 2007

NEW YORK - Hotel heiress Paris Hiltonâ??s potential inheritance dramatically diminished after her grandfather Barron Hilton announced plans on Wednesday to donate 97 percent of his $2.3 billion fortune to charity.
That wealth includes $1.2 billion Barron Hilton stands to earn from both the recent sale of Hilton Hotels Corp. â?? started by his father Conrad in 1919 when he bought a small hotel in Cisco, Texas â?? and pending sale of the worldâ??s biggest casino company, Harrahâ??s Entertainment Inc.
That money will be placed in a charitable trust that will eventually benefit the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, raising its total value to about $4.5 billion, the foundation said in a statement.
