Summerland Fire Disaster - Almost forgotten Manx disaster from 1973

Even before I moved to the Isle of Man I was interested in this case. We leaned about it in school, though my partner who grew up on the Isle of Man didn't. I think it's because most of the victims were from North West of England which is where I'm originally from. The victims only got a memorial plaque ten years ago, twenty five years after it happened.

    Wiki article here
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summerland_disaster

Lengthy and interesting article here, includes names of dead and mentions other UK fire related disasters (you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and follow the chapter links)

Looks like the only good thing about this is the fact that it caused the building codes to change.

    Thx for posting.
