And all this time; we thought he couldn't sing.

He NAILED that song "WOOOOO", and I hear that it is an original composition.

Next; he should do a cover of "HEELLOOOO".

Damn, Takai was on fire in the Comedy Clips going after Shatner, Farrah, and Betty White.

Takai was in wonderful form that night...Betty White was the cherry on top!

I have read Takai's autobio. He never could figure out that he was not the star of Star Trek. He never could figure out that Star Trek was about xcience fiction not social engineering.

I didn't know if we wanted to start another thread about this- it occurs to me that a sizeable number of the beautiful women who did a love scene with Captain Kirk have passed on. Well, it was 40 years ago!

I'll start by mentioning the incomparable Angelique Pettyjohn- you'll remember the costume! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelique_Pettyjohn She was very popular at conventions.

Poor lady had cancer and died at age 48. There's no burial info for her on FindAGrave, just a bio.

Did anybody know her?

One thing I've always liked about Shatner is his ability to turn a weakness into a strength. The man can't act for shit, but he has made a career out of spoofing himself! I love his Priceline commercials.

He is hilarious on Boston Legal. He and James Spader have some of the best scenes together.

I DO remember that costume!

I'm sad to hear that she died so young.

I like the older Shatner, now that he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.

One time I went to this high-end man-wig store located in a suite in a high rise in North Hollywood. I went in the 'fitting room' with the guy. The 'manly wig fitter dude' (for lack of a better name of the owner of the place) opened a cabinet and inside were styrofoam heads, and I swear to GOD this was true: There were heads labeled Burt R. (as in Reynolds) and Bill S. - This one had hair pinned to it. It looked like William Shatner's hair. This was an expensive specialty man-wig store. They would stick the hair on with some glue that made it stay on... it stayed on until they used something to neutralize the glue. Apparently the stars had more than one man-wig so that they always looked fresh. The guy I was with was a complete loser. He got his man-wig by being a model in a show for hairdressers... showing new products and that kind of thing. He sat on stage and had the thing glued on to his head, so it was free. But, the maintenance wasn't free, so he ended up letting his man-wig get all shack-y and gross. I can't believe I forgot this story until now. But, I swear it is the truth.

My uncles friend told me he was at the scene when his wife was found and said he wasent the only person who thought everything was odd that night..in his own words off....thats what he said. I always though the speech seemed like a lot of bullshit to me..."my beautiful wife is dead"......personally Ive always liked him...but I do wonder.

Ah, Shatner. I dunno why, but I like him. I also have 2 of his CD's and I have so much fun listening to them! The first was so bad, but he was being serious. The last one, like other's here have mentioned, is pretty good and funny. He has learned to laugh at himself. He has learned to be part of the joke.
Did you guys hear that when George Takai (sp) got married he invited many from the cast of Star Tre, I believe Spock was best man and Uhara (sp) was maid of honor, but Shatner wasn't invited!

Did anyone see Boston Legal last night? For a reason that is unclear to me, Denny, under his Drs. orders, had to wear a device that measured blood flow to a certain part of his anatomy. Everytime blood flowed there a rooster would crow. James Spader's character asked him why the hell there was a cock-a-doodle-doo coming from him, and he explained, and told him he would put it on vibrate. He vibrated the rest of the show. It was hilarious because everyone could hear it but only Spader and Denny knew why.

There was a line from Third Rock where John Lithgow was wearing a "man girdle" and he called it "The Shatner" as he proudly displayed his improved physique. My husband and I still use the term when we see folks that could use a "Shatner".

Remember the 911 call when he's talking about her being at the bottom of the pool, and there is a pause. Then the 911 operator said.... "Well, get her out!" or something along those lines.

I always thought that was so strange, but people react to things like that differently. I guess my first response would be to get them out of the water or pull them to shallow, but maybe he didn't want his wig to get fudged up? Maybe he has medical problems.? Who knows..?

Picard is my favorite Captain. My fiance' loves The Shat. I prefer to remember him as TJ Hooker.

My aunt worked for an entertainment law firm in LA in the 70's and 80's, and did some work for Shatner's fan club. She spent a fair amount of time with him and always had good things to say about him.

Here's what Wiki says about Nerine and her death:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William...other_ventures

On August 9, 1999, Shatner returned home around 10 p.m. to discover the body of his wife Nerine at the bottom of their back yard swimming pool. Alcohol and Valium were detected in an autopsy, and a coroner ruled the death an accidental drowning. The LAPD ruled out foul play and the case was closed. Speaking to the press shortly after his wife's death, a clearly shaken and emotional Shatner said that she "meant everything" to him and called her his "beautiful soulmate".[27] Shatner urged the public to support Friendly House, a non-profit organization that helps women re-establish themselves in the community after suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction.[28] He later told Larry King in an interview that "...my wife, whom I loved dearly and who loved me, was suffering with a disease that we donâ??t like to talk about, alcoholism. And she met a tragic ending because of it."[27] In his new 2008 book Up Till Now: The Autobiography, Shatner discusses how Leonard Nimoy helped to take his third wife Nerine for treatment of her alcoholism. Shatner writes in an excerpt to his book:

â?? Leonard Nimoy's personal experience of alcoholism now came to play a central role in my life and it helped us bond together in a way I never could have imagined in the early days of Star Trek. After Nerine [Kidd] and I had been to dinner with Leonard and Susan Nimoy one evening, Leonard called and said: "Bill, you know she's an alcoholic?" I said I did. I married Nerine in 1997, against the advice of many and my own good sense. But I thought she would give up alcohol for me. We had a celebration in Pasadena, and Leonard was my best man. I woke up about eight o'clock the next morning and Nerine was drunk. She was in rehab for 30 days three different times. Twice she almost drank herself to death. Leonard took Nerine to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, but she did not want to quit."

Shatner was pure pork in the tv series, but toned it down in the movies to turn in decent performances.

The best performance I've seen is his part in the famous SNL Trekkie convention skit. Now THAT was funny.

William Shatner will always be "T.J. Hooker" to me cuz I never wuz a Trekkie fan - my stepfather is, though. Shatner just acts like he's got a huge ego.

The only time I've liked him a little is when he's appeared in Brad Paisley's videos on CMT and those damn "Priceline" commercials - now those were funny!

Aftermath - William Shatner

Anyone seen Shatner's new show, "Aftermath"? I thought it was actually pretty good.

It premiered last night and Bernhard Goetz was his guest. Goetz is... nutty. That's an understatement. And Shatner's reactions to him are priceless. You can tell he's like, "Is this guy for real?!"

My neighbor, who had his 15 minutes of fame by bringing baby Jessica out of the well a million years ago,(remember her?) was contacted by William Shatner's team to be on his show. And he DECLINED!!!! I couldn't believe it! He missed his chance to talk to Captain Kirk!!!

He got sued for palimony once by a scorned lover: http://articles.latimes.com/1990-01-...6_1_legal-file

He was married to his second wife, Marcy, at the time. I recall thinking this other woman had a lot of nerve, suing for support for sneaking around with someone else's husband! Now the bimbos do it all the time.

Bill is holding together well given he's something like 78 years old!

The impression that I get is that years ago SHATNER was something of an asshole. It would appear that in the past decade or so that he matured and became more considerate and developed a sense of humor about himself.

Watched the new show on Thursday night.
With "The Big Bang Theory" as the lead-in, I'd be astonished if it isn't a big hit.

It's funny and very well written. It's about a cranky old guy, reminiscent of Frank Barrone on "Everybody Loves Raymond"; getting old and not particularly loved by anyone. He never had a relationship with his son, running out of years and trying to do right.

Reminds me of Frasier too- but edgier!

Yeah, I know I liked him a lot more before he did... whatever the hell he did.... to "Rocket Man"... Stewey Griffin did it with more feeling!
And I thought it was in, ah, odd taste to have the memorial or whatever at his home where guests swam in THAT pool (the one the blue wife had so recently sank to the bottom of.) And maybe it's just me, but if my loved one was at the bottom of the pool, I'm guessing I'd -- call me crazy -- get them the hell out. Just sayin'.

Apart from those oddities, no problems with him at all. And I loved both him and Lithgow in those parts... TZ's were awesome and I still watch the marathons.
