I never heard about his ex being killed. How long ago was this again?

    Woah!

I'd never heard of this before.

Ashton's story in there was kinda weird to me. He goes to pick up his girlfriend, she doesn't answer the door, he sees "red wine" stains on the carpet and then doesn't wonder why he doesn't hear from her at all?! *blink*

    Looks like 2001.

I had not heard of it either. When I first saw it, I thought they were going to say it was in Iowa since that is where he grew up.

I thought his story was odd too. I thought he might have tried to call her or something?

Well, if I had been scheduled to meet up with somebody and take them somewhere with me like an awards show party, I most certainly would have been concerned and found out where the hell they were!

They didn't find her til the next day!?

Hasn't Ashton admitted of being "a player" before he met Demi? He's a cutie, but I wouldn't expect him to care about a "hook-up".

I can understand it from that aspect, gemini.

I suppose I just got a picture of them being closer than that from the term "ex-girlfriend". Your take on it is probably right, though.

I'm wondering if she might have still been alive when he went to pick her up and if he had investigated more and found her earlier she might still be here today.

Maybe he thought she stood him up? He was pretty young back then.

Add me to those who thought his story was odd. Though with the explanation give here about being a player that makes sense. I've always thought he was a douche, I guess this is just more fuel for that fire. I'm glad for her family that someone has been identified though.

First thing that jumped out at me..........WTF.......if I were dating someone and saw that, I`d call the police immeadiately.......not to mention he hadn`t heard from her.......great post.......I`d never heard this before......

Well even if she were only a " hook-up " you`d think he`d have the common decency to make sure she was alright........I was young once too, but I wasn`t that stupid.....and no condolances to the family.....yep, he`s entered my douche list......

Never really was a fan of the dude....
But....red wine stains?? I have seen blood stains and red wine stains....they really don't look similar to me, even in a distance...and if he says it was dark...then how would he have been able to tell it was red at all??
I dunno...and to report these stains AFTER she had been found??
    WTF?

This was in the tabloid years ago-the girl's family was blasting Ashton to not investigating further.

I agree with all of you it's kinda weird, you are supposed to meet this person, they don't answer, you see weird stains, and you just bounce? You dont call her, her friends, the cops? I would wonder where they were at and if they were ok, and would definitely begin calling people. Bad Boyfriend!

I'm thinking that because it was back in 2001, he probably made a date with the girl to take her to the awards after-show party thinking that he'd impress her. Then when he arrives, he probably thinks she stood him up. I doubt she was his "ex-girlfriend" or anything. You know how the tabloid sites have to amp up the story. If he didn't know her very well, he could easily have thought that she stood him up. It could also be one of those situations where had he investigated further he might not be here today. We'll never know. I'm glad they found her killer though. Sounds like this guy is a serial killer. Creepy.

I've always liked what Brittany Murphy said about him after he hooked up Demi...

He was probably afraid of that kind of stigma so early in his career. Jackass. Undoubtedly he let himself believe she was already dead; or really didn't care either way, he was thinking of himself. He's still a jackass.

Or figured out what happened, got scared and split. He should have called 911 and reported it suspicious.

As in all things, there is probably a back story to this. Maybe the relationship was testy leading towards that night, who knows?

What would spook me would be seeing what you thought were red wine stains on the carpet (and why wouldn't you?) and then finding out it was her blood later.

I guarantee you he wonders about his from time to time in the wee hours when he cannot sleep. Of course he had no way of preventing it. It is just life.

The whole thing is just sort of strange. If you know a person well enough to be picking them up at home and peeking in their window to see stains, I guess you should know them well enough to just call someone to check on her?

Okay, if I was picking someone up and they didn't answer. First, I'd trying calling. To peek in the window and automatically assume it's red wine...is crazy. My first thought would be red stain = blood. NOT RED WINE! Who thinks like that? Gotta be more to this.....

I have always wondered why he didn't go in after seeing the stains on the floor. If someone I was with didn't answer the door when I was expecting them to be home, I would certainly check it out.

From what I understand, he had stood her up on a date, and he thought she was mad at him, and that she had dumped the wine in anger.

Testify or photo op? Another not a fan and in agreement on him seeming like a douche. I so don't get this guy's celebrity he isn't exceptional attractive nor particularly talented (we call him the ketchup guy because I mostly can't be bothered to recall his name as he simply isn't interesting enough)

Michael Gargiulo, aka "The Hollywood Ripper" is being charged in a cold case murder that was featured on "48 Hours Mystery".

Tricia Pacaccio, 18, had been stabbed to death near her home in 1993.

After reading that story last night, I had a hard time falling asleep!

That guy is seriously disturbed and his attacks on women were nothing short of nightmarish. He stalked them, peeped in their windows at night, then attacked them in the middle of the night.

One girl, in his hometown back east, was dropped off at her parent's front door by a friend one night. In the time it took her to get her key out of her bag to open the door, he attacked and nearly beheaded her, stabbed her dozens of times. The attack was so swift and quiet, she wasn't found until the next morning when her dad opened the front door to get the paper.

As a young man, he was so violent and disruptive, his family moved out of their house and left him there. Apparently they had tried to get help for him, to no avail. They reported they were very frightened of him, an unusual situation since his other brothers and sisters were normal.

He was somewhat attractive and smart enough to fool people into thinking he was harmless. He worked as a HVAC repairman, so people trusted him and allowed him into their homes.

As for Ellerin, after reading the story above, she was a pretty wild "party" girl. Ashton wasn't the only guy she was dating. She ran with a wild crowd, worked in strip clubs, did drugs, always out on the town, etc. It wouldn't have been unusual for her to have spilled a big spot of wine while partying with friends, leaving it behind to go on to the next party. The killer had been in her house before. She befriended him and invited him to some of her parties, though others thought he was strange.
