    Dead At 67:

Unsure whether to place it here or in the actor section. I'll leave it to the moderator to decide.

There's already a thread about him in Entertainers. I've asked the mods to move it to the appropriate section. You may want to ask to have this thread merged with it.

Being as he has now died, this is the appropriate place for the thread.

I thought there couldn't be a new death thread for serial singers who already had a thread.

I think he squeezed it in to a good day as far as I can tell. I haven't heard of any other celebrity deaths today. Not on par with what he was at one time. It's a bummer, but he did not want to put the bottle down. He got enough warnings.

This is bothersome in a couple of different ways. To me he has always been that blue-eyed young man pictured above. Also, dementia of all things.

It's odd what we associate people with. Whenever he is mentioned I can't help think of Puka Shell necklaces and how those things were so popular in Jr High.

While too short he most certainly lived an interesting life. One can't complain about that.

My first love. He was my first boyfriend. (of course he was unaware but I was only 6) I was gonna marry him when I grew up! This one hurt my heart. I hope he found the peace he was looking for.

I remember all the girls I knew had his poster on their walls, and all the issues of 16 and Tiger Beat when he was on the cover. RIP David.

I hope he didn't really suffer at the end-- if he was doomed to die with dementia or "wet brain" or some diabolical combination, perhaps this was the way it had to be. Still, what a waste of what were to be his last few years.

David hurt his back in Las Vegas when he fell through a door trap. He was on pain med. also no polar. At least he did not take anyone out with him with his DUIs. I believe he wanted to go.

Does anyone remember the mystery paperbacks that featured The Partridge Family? I read two or three of them my aunt gave me. Really cheesy. I mean Keith and the gang solving mysteries. LOL.

I always thought "I Think I Love You" was overplayed until the average person got sick of it. On the other hand, "I'll Meet You Half Way" was excellent and I couldn't stop listening to it. A masterpiece!

It does but I think these were before the Hardy Boys. If you go to Amazon and do a search in books for The Partridge Family, they'll show up.

Although I did watch the show and thought David was cute, but never had a crush on him either (I was about 10 or 11), but just a few years later, I sure was in love with Andy Gibb (and still am)!!!LOL!!!

I recently bought one of those old paperbacks-- it was about the Partridges heading for a music festival and mistakenly stuck in an empty old mansion with a sinister band of Manson-esque musicians and a pyromaniac mental hospital escapee.

Surprisingly hardcore stuff ("Laurie" even seems in danger of rape and murder for a while) which is miraculously solved by page 150 or so, and you would never know how whack it gets from the breezy blurbs on the cover. (This would NEVER have been a REAL PF episode for sure!) The only reason I got it was because it had a mention of DARK SHADOWS (which was still running at the time and had its own set of paperback novels.)

I don't understand what someone would achieve lying about something like this. I had to watch sit and watch my nana turn into a shell of the person she had been because of Vascular Dementia and it was heartbreaking. In the end, it was cancer that got her but to be honest with how bad she was getting, I doubt we would have had long left with her anyway.

Maybe he felt people would be more sympathetic toward him if they thought he had dementia rather than being drunk or having wet brain from being a long-term alcoholic? That's my only guess. Very sad. Whatever was going on, he still died of major organ failure just months later.

I saw something about this yesterday. It's still sad. My dad died the same way at 57. It is a form of dementia....it's just brought on by alcohol. Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome.

I never thought of that. There is more tolerance of alcoholism these days but there are still those who think it's the person's own fault and maybe he knew people like that?

Maybe Cassidy knew the public wanted drama and more so he made up the dementia. Afterall everyone lies in one form or another. I guess I would had done the same thing
