    William Schallert - 93

William Schallert, the quietly excellent character actor most famous as Patty Duke's father (and uncle!) on "The Patty Duke Show" has died at the age of 93

    http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/10...ies-at-93.html

He had hundreds of other roles, including Dobie Gillis & Co's college instructor Professor Pomfritt, and he was also the voice of Milton the Toaster on this TV Generation commercials for Pop-Tarts

Well done, Sir - a fine career

I was quite surprised to learn he was still alive when Patty Duke passed away, albeit just a short time... RIP

What a terrific career Mr. Schallert had. I am so sad to hear that he has left us. What a great person.

It must've been PATTY' death that did it.

I liked him though, a very dependable character actor.

Schallert back in the late 60s and early 70s was the voice over guy for the ABC promos. A few months ago I was checking out some old radio airchecks and including one from New Orleans from 1968 which still had some of their commercials including one for ABC. At the end of the ABC jingle "..Find Your Own Thing on ABC"..then Schallert comes on and says "..In New Orleans...you can find your own thing on channel 12" .
