There is that weird morgellons disease again. Supposedly she suffers from it.

Oh no! I hope she's going to be OK. Guess I better start working on some Joni Mitchell cover numbers just in case.
I thought she was dead already. Seems the author of the article could have given a brief description of what the skin condition actually does to the skin. I gotta google. The bastard. Hope she gets well soon.
Upon further research I learned her skin condition is basically bullshit not recognized as an actual thing. Looks to me like Morgellons is a classic case of mass hysteria spread on the interwebz. All the cases are "self diagnosed" after the person read something about it. It's usually an already known skin condition or a complete delusion. In short... Joni is a bit off center.

Aww the Woodstock queen. Hope she gets better.
Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard to me, but she wrote some okay songs.
We tend to be able to identify those like ourselves. In short... Joni is a bit off center.
The term you're looking for is delusional parasitosis - a delusional belief that one is infested with parasites.
Most people who present with "Morgellons" are eventually diagnosed as suffering from delusional parasitosis or a known skin disorder.
The tough thing about psychogenic illness is that, for the sufferer, the symptoms are very real. Psychosomatic pain really hurts. People with psychosomatic blindness really can't see, those with psychogenic paralysis really can't move, psychogenic urinary retention - well, you get the picture.
I spent a lot of time around people like this. The ward for psychosomatic illness was one floor down from the one for depression.
And yes, I think she always has been a little "high strung", but she still has my sympathy.
What concerns me is that she was found unconscious. That sounds like something else may be seriously wrong.
My favorite Joni Mitchell moment ever is documented in "Message to Love: The Isle of Wight Festival 1970". Some crazy fan stormed the stage and interrupted her set, insisting that he just had to talk to her. It took her a little while to regain her composure, but then she busted out a really great performance of Big Yellow Taxi.
AH . . . found it on YouTube:

Amen. The difference is I'm delusional in positive ways. For example: I look like someone glued an acorn to the bottom of a torso but I tell myself I am hung like John Holmes.
Yeah Rosebud I suppose you're right about the condition of psychosomatic disorders being very real to those afflicted with them.
good article on her skin disease which may or may not exist

Has there been any other update on Joni? I haven't been able to find anything but other Death Hags are generally a wealth of knowledge.

I mean, they say you die twice.
One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.

I hate to say it, but start the clock.
Oh no, come on Joni, please get better!!!
I thought she'd pull thru this.
She still might, according to her reps.
From what I've read, the signs aren't good but you never know.
not looking good as per TMZ
http://www.tmz.com/2015/04/28/joni-m...ro1?adid=hero1
It's now being reported on her offical site as well as others that the TMZ headline is wrong. She is still in hospital but she isn't in a coma, she's alert and has her full senses.

I think she really is in a coma and probably on her last legs. I think her reps are trying to put a positive spin on things. There seems to be a lot of reports to her being in a coma or unresponsive. I wouldn't doubt if she goes pretty soon...
Seen her years ago here in London.
Just hope all the best.

Well considering her ailment isn't real I think she'll pull through lol... Unless she's sick for another reason.
suffering from a brain aneurysm

Joni's made 'remarkable progress' and is expected to make a full recovery. Mm-hmm. Hate to say it, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Couple a brain aneurysm at her age with roached-out lungs from a lifetime of smoking and, I hope I'm wrong, but I think she has largely used up every one of her years on this earth to the fullest, so if the end be near, may it take her gently.
heartbreaking...I'm a giant fan. She's just amazing!
Some of the best singers ever were smokers.
To my Father. Even though you have crossed the plane, you will always be with me.
You were not just my Father, but my hero. My life has been a poor attempt to be like you
You taught me music, vocals, and how to fight. I can only hope I am half the man you are
When I close my eyes I can see you. And finally, Thank you Dad. for everything.
March 1934-July 2016
Still have not heard anymore word how she is doing
after all this time.
Just hope all the best for her.

Everyone smoked in those days, and onstage. Sinatra and The Rat Pack, Judy Garland. Plus half of the audience in the Vegas showrooms where they played. How could you see anything with all that smoke !
Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness.
Yep. I grew up around it. My parents smoked, my grandparents smoked, aunts, uncles........ I remember my mom smoking everywhere we went. It's hard to imagine now that you could grocery shop with a cigarette in your hand. I was in my mid 20's when smoking indoors was banned completely. I just passed my 5 year mark for quitting.

Congrats Cindy! My Parents did not smoke, they quite when I showed up. But, everyone else in the world seemed to. Then, old age sets in. You have COPD and look like a Shar-Pei.
