Last major male star (or even non-major male star) from the 1930s to check out. I think the last living female star from the 1930s is Olivia de Havilland.

He may have been a jerk but he was a pretty good actor, IMO. I thought he did a wonderful job acting on those Bill movies. I remember when I was very young always thinking he was one of the munchkins from The Wizard of Oz. I forgot he was married to Ava Gardner. How on earth did that ever happen? RIP Mr Rooney.

One day I was watching an old Mickey Rooney film on TCM, don't remember which one, and my 12 year old daughter starts watching with me. She thought he was the cutest thing. She wants me to find more movies with Mickey Rooney. I had to break it to her that the old guard in Night At the Museum was him. Regardless, I think she was crushing on the 20 year old Mickey Rooney. I know how she feels - I always loved Elvis and Glen Ford in their younger days. Way before my time. It's hard to wrap your head around the fact that they were old/deceased before you even knew who they were.

Hey Scott, thanks for posting the pic. Out of curiosity though, the pic above the casket photo of Mickey when he was alive shows he had big drooping ear lobes whereas the pic of him in the casket portrays him to have no lobes at all. Is this normal?

I also have to give my thanks to Scott for posting that photo. Had a fucking nightmare the night after I saw the photo, but thanks nonetheless. Was any autopsy performed on him ? I realize he was elderly and heavyset when he died, but SOMETHING about his sagging face is eerily similar to Marilyn's last photo, after her autopsy. Marilyn had the same sag of the jawline and lower face. Looks like the Mickster got sliced from behind and they tried to patch him up for display. The mouth in particular looks stretched. You can't see his earlobe because of the sagging skin.

Mickey's family has been fighting since his death but they've sunk to a new low. They're having this poor man exhumed. Fighting over a mere $18,000 (that was all that was left) and now allegations he was poisoned to death.

    Imagine how he must feel.

Bet he's hoping that doesn't happen yet again.

Did any celebrities help Mickey financially?
Were any celebrities still good friends with him near the end of his life?
