People are getting shot by weird things in Florida lately

I know Florida is kind of strange altogether, but this weekend some guy was shot by his dog, last week some girl was shot by her friends oven, and earlier this month some guy shot himself in the groin with a flare gun. Is there some kind of contest going on there or something?

This stuff just seems weird when lumped all together like that but it's actually quite common. So common in fact that it now takes much more idiocy or freakiness of occurence for someone to make it into the annual Darwin Awards.

I don't understand why someone would keep bullets in an oven! Loaded or not, who would keep a dog and gun on the same floor of a vehicle? Shouldn't the gun be in the console or trunk? And finally, what in the Hell is so exciting about an empty flare gun?!

You'd be surprised how silly people can be, like using .22 cartridges as replacements for automotive fuses.

The Mythbusters demonstrate that while this is probably not lethal, it's hardly best practice:

I'm still trying to get over a flare in the sack. At least the wound was self cauterizing.
