Maybe someone in the field can answer this, but WHY are they keeping those little bodies in the classroom? I don't get it - it's not like there is going to be a trial and they need to get all the concrete evidence they can! I mean take your pictures and give those parents their babies!!! I can't even imagine how the parents feel right now - it was bad enough to be the last ones in the fire station, but now they can't even hold their babies one more time...
Ughhhh - this just keeps getting worse and worse... What is even more worse is that we will probably REALLY never know WHY.... Bastard....

I forgot about all the school shootings and theater shootings, etc. back in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s......
No, things haven't changed at all.
Connecticut authorities said Saturday they have finished the heart-wrenching task of identifying and removing the bodies of 20 children and six adults massacred at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

What's really scary is how classmates and friends described him. NORMAL. Just a normal guy. I wonder if his parent's divorce had anything to do with it? I know Asperger's is closely related to autism, right? (please correct me if I'm wrong) My son may be tested for Asperger's in the future. From what I've read on that, they do not handle any kind of change very well. Any little change in their routine can cause problems. For instance, my son flipped shit when I returned to work after being home for years. It was a major change, and it also required him to ride a school bus to and from school. He actually worried himself sick, it was really hard on him. I can't imagine what a divorce would do to him.. then you have to think, the shooter would have been in his mid-teen's when mom & dad split up? We're unsure how this affected him, or if it did.. and can you have different degrees or a higher or lower severity of autism? I just don't know enough about it to know what to think or wonder if it had any kind of factor?
Throwing around rumours about him having a personality disorder, Autism, or any other mental problem will no doubt further alienate and demonize people that suffer from these disorders.
I think it is the morning after and everyone wants to blame someone or something. An angry kid with some kind of grudge is not enough. Let's take our pick
guns
poor school security
poor health care system
prescription drugs
recreational drugs
bad parenting
video games
computers
lax morals
the Republicans
The Democrats
Wal-mart
Rupert Murdoch
the media
emotional alienation
mental disorders
and on and on. This is all like manna from heaven for the media and they are milking every second of it.
Everybody asking "why?" "How can this happen?" I think they are asking the wrong question. I think the question should be why doesn't this happen more often given all the problems above?
Our school district sent out mass phone calls to parents yesterday to remind them that our schools were safe. It didn't help that they started the message with "This is an emergency call from your childs school", made my heart fall into my stomach. And while I appreciate my district calling to reassure us, I couldn't help but think, "This school was safe too." And by all accounts their security system was much better than ours. I've seen how easy it is for people to get into our schools, particularly the elementary school where my daughter attends. But what do we do to make our schools safer. We have the system where you have to sign in at the office and then be buzzed in, but like in this situation, if you have a gun forcing your way in wouldn't be hard. So do we start hiring retired police officers and off duty officers to be armed patrols at our schools? Is there any way to make schools safer then they already are? I have no idea. I just know my heart breaks for those parents. I can't even imagine what that pain is like.

I think that things are so sketchy right now, but the information will come out eventually. First, it was said that the Mom was Kindergarten teacher at the school and was shot at the school. Then, it was said that she was shot at home and her son drove to school to kill her class. Now, it is being said that she didn't even work at the school. I suppose that eventually all of this confusion will finally get cleared up and we will see how this man was involved with the school.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.
I was wrong.Earlier reports of a second gunman are unconfirmed. The Connecticut Post reports that police are also questioning a handcuffed man in connection with the shooting. Witnesses told the newspaper he was led out of the woods by officers.
This person has, to my knowledge, now vanished from all news coverage without explanation which is not uncommon in the controlled media aftermath of events such as yesterday's.
Now you see it, now you don't.
I totally agree .There's no point in throwing around aspergers as the reason, it could have been absolutely anything like PWEM said .Who can fathom the mind of a killer ? in the UK we had a guy in the Lake District go on a shooting spree allegedly because he was depressed and had a grudge against another taxi driver. It didn't stop him killing random passers by , farmers in a field, women walking with their shopping - anybody at all. There was no reasoning behind it .It was crazy ,like most nut jobs who go off on one and kill innocent people they've never met.
I am not a fan of guns but I understand we have more guns here in Canada per capita than in the US. For years I have gone on about the need for gun control in the US but I really do believe now that it is not going to help a damn bit.
Sure there are those that think we should arm the teachers. Hell, why not arm the kids? More guns, less guns. It is NOT going to solve the basic problems that remain dormant until things come to a head and explode in an ugly tragedy like this.
Found this on Facebook this morning. Staggering, to say the least:
About the media, I want to be informed, I want to be kept informed, BUT, they didn't have a damn thing right about any of this except that the shooter killed his mother. I think they were referring to his brother, whom they thought at the time, was the younger one when they said they had a second person in custody.
Also, his mom owned more guns... He only brought three of them with him.
People need to be responsible gun owners... Lock them up. That guy just killed his 7 year old son at the gun store, because his gun "accidentally" went off as they were getting in their vehicle.
If you're referring to Ryan Lanza, he was taken into custody in Hoboken NJ where he lives now.
So if Ryan Lanza was in Hoboken NJ at the time of the shooting, who was the handcuffed male...clad in military style camo...escorted by cops out of the woods behind the school in Newtown CT?
He is the mystery man who has vanished. He never existed, if one reads today's accounts. He's been scrubbed from the "news".
So it now says he was involved in altercation with 4 members of staff at the school the day before. He killed 3, and the cops are hoping the one alive will have some info to inform them as to why he was angry.
It also said he forced the way into the school as the staff treid to block him.(all from Huff post )
One of the kids they interviewed said they saw the police had someone (with handcuffs on) down on the ground outside the school. I passed it off as being why they shouldn't talk to little kids to get information, especially since they already said the shooter was dead... Maybe that's where it came from?
It's obvious that he was the UN Rothschild banker who was coordinating the whole operation.
Actually, FoxNews (which is always fair and balanced ) interviewed at least two people (one adult and one child) who reported seeing him being taken into custody and led away, saying the whole time that he had nothing to do with the situation. At least one of the two reported that the man was dressed in "normal" clothes except for the camo pants. Camo has become a fashion statement. Lots of people wear camo pants - not just conspirators, survivalists, and other nuts. I'm willing to accept that he was where he was for perfectly innocent purposes and just got caught up in the day's events.
Ugh. Awful, awful awful.
It only takes one determined fanatic or nutjob to ruin hundreds of lives and shock the entire world. Sickening.
It seems Westboro Baptist plans to get involved. I wonder what sins they believe these children committed that caused their deaths? Honestly, I wouldn't shed a single tear if some psycho went in and slaughtered their compound.
Well said!
Being someone who has had to bury a child stories like this really disgust me.
I have brought up my sister on many occasions and her education fetish. Here's an example of how the nut does not fall from the tree.
My niece wrote on her FB page yesterday how sickened she was that the shooter (at that time was identified as 24yo Ryan) graduated from
the University she is now attending. Then as an afterthought I'm assuming she threw in the 20 kids that were massacred (my words).
Really? A guy walks into a school and massacres 20 5-10 yo's and all you give a flying fuck about is you're sickened by the fact he went to your
college? Is it only me?
When you lose a parent you lose your past. When you lose a spouse you lose your present. When you lose a child you lose your future.

Yes, cause it would make all the difference if he went to another school. People amaze me sometimes and it usually isn't in a good way.
Medical Examiner in the press conference looked like he was going to cry a few times. Poor guy.

That ME has a pretty unfortunate last name considering his profession.
Whoa whoa whoa.
The ME states all the victims inside the school were shot by rifle at close range. Huh???
The narrative has been the shooter used two pistols and a rifle was found in his car.
Oh, the wording is "at least three guns were found", including the car rifle.
Well I'm sure that soon we'll be told that another rifle was found inside the school in order to jive with ME's statement.
This op is working well.

I'd like to personally thank the media for freaking everyone out and reporting that this guy had Asperger's/Autism, and then waiting 24 hours to get some actual doctors on their programs to come on and say "Yeah, no. Autism doesn't cause this type of activity." WAY TO GO!
A-holes.

I know. I don't think anyone thinks of them as real Baptists.. I see them as a Jim Jones type of cult that is yet to drink the flavor-aid myself.
I hope Miho is holding up ok? Wonder how she's doing in all of this? I remember her saying she was headed to the scene to be a grief counselor.

Little Josephine just had a birthday. I wonder if her party was scheduled today.
Sure 'nuff...the narrative is beginning to morph away from Lanza using only pistols with a rifle found in his car. It won't be long until we're told a second rifle was found inside the school, which will then match the ME's opinion of the type of weapon used on the victims.
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/connecticut...7.html#vRuWgwfThe killer's mother, Nancy Lanza, legally owned a Sig Sauer and a Glock, both handguns of models commonly used by police, and a military-style Bushmaster .223 M4 carbine, according to law enforcement officials who also believe Adam Lanza used at least some of those weapons.
Addendum: As of 4:40 pm CST, CNN has moved the .223 rifle from the car to next to Lanza's body, while Fox still has the rifle in the car.

Anybody suspect we're being lied to?

Anything to heighten the frenzy. Anything to feed the fear.
This morning a feed that was on our Canadian news channel actually was saying that everyone should be on alert at this time because copycats will strike. The reporter was excited beyond belief that another occurrence might happen within the next few days. What in the name of holy crows is the media thinking?
More importantly is why I even bother to care. I need to step away from any and all news programs at this time.
In a perfect world the tragedy would be covered in a day because the kids are dead and so is the killer. After that the families and community would be left to grieve in privacy. No doubt we are in for an onslaught of magazine covers and articles, talk show spots, interviews, and book deals being signed as we speak. But in a perfect world this destruction would never have happened.
The only thing I can possibly do is not add to the sideshow atmosphere the press is creating.
I absolutely agree here. I read where many of the kids have had to have troopers assigned to them to keep the press at bay.
A media scumbag is in no way comparable to a mass murderer but why do we not get more upset at those who do not know enough to not
hound these families to the point that they need protection?
I have mostly completely ignored the televised news stories.
I have been singing that song all day. We decided to take a media break here at the house. But yet here I am on this thread.
During the press conference a media person asked the medical examiner what the kids were wearing. He paused and then said...cute kids clothes. What a stupid question.
