Yeah, I wouldn't want to be interviewed. And if they want their privacy, they are entitled to it. Juries shouldn't be making decisions based on fear of what might happen to them afterward.

I don't think "stand you ground" applied in this case as Zimmerman waived immunity under that law in pre-trial.

Even during this time, they've had more class and dignity than most people.

For a long time I have been closely watching and reading all of the comments sections in all of the articles concerning this case and am not at all shocked to find out people are celebrating this.

Yes. He claimed simple self-defense, in the end.

How do you accept that a 17 yr old walks down a street, can be racially profiled, then killed and nobody is accountable for it. The "stand your ground" law apparently does not apply to young black men. Did anyone think of putting themselves in Trayvon's shoes and wondered what he must have felt when he realized he was being followed by a strange man? At some point, he must have realized that the guy following him had a gun. This is just scary. I am so sorry.
What violates common sense is to even arrest Zimmerman, much less try him. The pressure to put the guy on trial came from the highest levels -- the Obama White House -- who brought the mayor of Sanford in to lean on him and paid Al Sharpton to lead demonstrations against Zimmerman. The media joined in with fabrications of "evidence" and false statements about Zimmerman even releasing to the public his social security number.

This was an attempt to racially railroad George Zimmerman and it failed. It is as much a defeat for Obama and the race hustlers as it is a victory for Zimmerman.

    Let the riots begin.

George can walk right out and retain ownership of his gun. He may really need it now after all that has happened but I wonder how reluctant he would be to pull it.....

I was thinking about ignoring some people that I don't like and moving on with my life, but now I guess I can lure them into a physical confrontation, shoot and kill them, and it'll all be good.

Agreed...it's known that Eric Holder "interfered" with the Judge. The former sheriff has said there was nothing to go forward on, then got resigned/fired.

While I don't necessarily agree with the way things happened, under the laws of Florida, he is free to go. I respect that...(under penalty of my GF's astonishment & verbal outbursts towards me & anyone else who will hear her)

No, you can't and neither could Zimmerman. That's not what happened in this case either.

Justice is served. It was self-defense. I am fine with the verdict, because the prosecution couldn't prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Zimmerman was guilty. Simple as that.

This is also a point to be recognized:
    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...,2426704.story

Pics of Nude underage girls, a clump of jewelry on bed, a hand holding a semi-automatic gun, and pictures of marijuana plants were all found on Trayvon's phone. Also, there was a conversation regarding his suspension from school for fighting. He wasn't an innocent little baby.

This case would've been appealed, if he would've been convicted. There was too much evidence withheld.

Now, on to the Jodi Arias trial.

They actually already have a case pending. Sharpton was talking about it. Their chances will be much better, as "preponderance of the evidence" is a much lower threshold than "beyond a reasonable doubt". Look what happened with OJ...

The Feds may charge Zimmerman with violating Trayvon Martin's civil rights. This is how the federal government exacts retribution when it loses and gets around our fundamental rights against being tried twice.

I hadn't even considered that. If they can find any violation of federal law he could be tried in federal court. That's how the feds nailed all the old KKK guys here. I remember case that was tried in federal court because the crime was on government land. I actually started a thread on I believe.

Yes, I saw a couple of people inciting violence. Also, so many people who didn't know anything about the case, and clearly didn't pay attention to it until the verdict. Made me appreciate this thread even more than I already did. I disagreed with a lot of what was posted here, but I think we all at least made an effort to be well informed.

I was just talking with my BF about this tonight. How I got so much information from this thread and glad I didn't have to rely on "The News"
I keep seeing a post on FB about riots in Miami, but nothing on the News. Wonder if it's even true.

I haven't seen anything about riots on Atlanta Journal Constitution or FOX, nor the Miami Herald either. All I see online index is the police bracing for riots.

I hope Zimmerman is leaving Florida, since it appears murder is legal there. Just saying.

There will be no civil case due to Florida law:

    1) Section 776.032 (2): Dissuades and discourages police from arresting a person who claims: "self-defense" under the "Stand Your Ground Law" where there are no direct eye-witnesses, and
    2) Section 776.032 (3): Prohibits family of victim from suing the killer in Civil Court for "Wrongful Death."

Florida "Stand Your Ground Law" Statute 776.012

"A person who is not engaged in an UNLawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony."

Zimmerman didn't use stand your ground. He used self defense. He can however use stand your ground to argue against a civil trial. That's why the civil trial is pending. Zimmerman waived his rights to syg pre trial.

MSNBC's Tamron Hall showed a pic Friday of Trayvon dead on the ground, supposedly it was an accident and she apologized. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/0....html?ir=Media One of the comments below really struck me, it said GZ set into motion a chain of events that resulted in the death of TM. Bingo, that.

When they asked for the clarification on manslaughter, I just took that to mean murder was off the table, and that they were choosing between manslaughter and acquittal.

No, Trayvon Martin set his own demise into motion when he decided to attack George Zimmerman instead of going on his own way. Fortunately for Zimmerman, he had a gun to protect himself.

Tamron Hall and MSNBC are a joke.
