My youth just died.
Thanks for all the laughs. RIP.
sadness...
Oh No! RIP John Hughes.
I've never been sad when celebrity died and I thought it would never happen. But this one hit me hard. I'm crying like a baby
RIP John
Holy crap!! Just watched National Lampoon's Vacation last week...twice. The guy had a gift for comedic films. Jeez...
Thats awful. Gonna have to break out The Breakfast Club and 16 Candles this weekend.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Thank you John
RIP
"Bueller...? Bueller...??"
cracks me up. I think that is my fave of all of his movies.
What a loss...too young.
RIP JH
Thank you for my teenage years.
Oh man....2009 has totally been a whopper...
RIP Mr. Hughes
2009 is the worse year yet.
Now I MUST get The Breakfast Club.
Time for a John Hughes film festival this weekend. The 80's would not have been the same without him.
nooooo. Pretty In Pink is honestly one of my all-time favorites. not to mention, The Breakfast Club, Mr. Mom, etc.
and having lost my mother to a heart attack at age 52, this kind of death always hits home.
Rest in Peace Mr. Hughes!

I really loved his work. I watch Mr Smith goes to washington all the time and Lost boys. He was so funny in that. He will be missed.
Truly sad and so young. RIP John!!
Thanks for the great work Mr. Hughes

I grew up on John Hughes, my youth is officially over :-(
He gave me Curly Sue and Weird Science. Both movies I was totally obsessed with and were big parts of my childhood.
Summer 2009 is taking really talented people.
OMG who's next?? I feel like the 80's are just dying off 1 by 1
I really enjoyed his movies. Grew up on them, too, like many others. He will be missed.
My heart!!
Hughes wrote for National Lampoon in the 70s, when I used to read it. His story Vacation '58 (which was funny as hell) eventually became National Lampoon's Vacation (which was also funny as hell). He also penned a couple of stories about genetalia that were damned funny as well. Gonna have to pull out the old Lampoons. Enjoyed most of his movies. Much too young...RIP

RIP John
Next to Gilda Radner, this is by far the most devastating celebrity death for me.
John Hughes directed, wrote, and/or produced most of my favorite movies.
Way, way too soon for him.
RIP John.
and Thanks
Actually got to meet him back in '93. A really, really nice guy. He produced "Baby's Day Out" and was on-set the two days I filmed.
Really, really nice guy, talked to EVERYONE, crew, stars, extras, you name it.
RIP, Mr. Hughes. You truly were a great creative mind.
i am so sad---i loved his work
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON????
Every good memory I have from my childhood, is slipping away! This is starting to get really depressing. Everyone is leaving me !
The director of "Pretty In Pink", and "Sixteen Candles" died today in New York City of a heart attack. Rest In Peace.
So young...what a shame.
This is sad.
What a talented individual this man was.
RIP
I grew up on his movies, I still watch them when they come on cable.

I am so saddened by his death.
My childhood was defined by his movies.
RIP, John. Us 80's kids will NEVER forget you.
I concur with your words precisely! Since it is my birthday & I'm feeling sentimental, the words to a Simon & Garfunkel song come to mind.

Time it was and what a time it was it was,
A time of innocence a time of confidences.
Long ago it must be, I have a photograph
Preserve your memories, theyre all thats left you.
RIP, thank you for your work.
