People like her need to be taken out back and shot. Why even bother sending them to prison to be a burden on tax payers. There is no cure for these monsters and they won't be rehabilitated.

It won't bring Stephanie back, but this is some small bit of good news, imo:

A sentence has just been announced in the case of the teenage Toronto girl convicted of murdering Stefanie Rengel.
The girl has been sentenced as an adult to life in prison with no chance at parole for seven years.
The adult sentence also means the girl can for the first time be named.
    She's Melissa Todorovic (toh-DORE-oh-VIK)
Fourteen year old Rengel was murdered on New Years Day last year.
Todorovic's boyfriend stabbed Rengel six times and left her to bleed to death in a snowbank outside her East York home.
Todorovic was convicted of first degree murder in March
The jury agreed with the Crown's argument that the 15-year-old girl had pressured her boyfriend to kill Rengel in a fit of jealousy.
Evidence showed Todorovic sent repeated texts and Facebook messages to her boyfriend saying she wanted Rengel dead
Todorovic's lawyer had called for a youth sentence because she didn't actually do the stabbing.
But the judge said that is outweighed by indisputable evidence that she engaged in an unrelenting campaign for the
Her boyfriend pleaded guilty to first degree murder shortly after her conviction.
The Crown is also seeking an adult sentence in that case.

I'm glad that they gave her a life sentence but she will be up for parole in 7 yrs whether she gets paroled or not we'll have to see. Her boyfriend that actually stabbed Stefanie is he getting anything at all? It seems that he should just because he was being forced by her shouldn't let him off the hook. I agree that she should get more than him though.

His sentencing is coming up in a month or so. He is f***ed, if you ask me. If the instigator was sentenced as an adult, he will be too. But since he was the actual killer, I doubt very much if he'll be getting parole in seven years.

She doesn't look much like a murderer, does she?
On the other hand, what's a murderer look like?

    OPERATOR: Okay.
    MALE: She's okay. I think.
OPERATOR: â?? Is there a lot of bleeding?
MALE: Ah, I see a little bit of blood in the snow. I don't see it pouring out um â??
OPERATOR: - Is she completely awake?
MALE: She yeah, she's completely awake. She's crying. She's in a lot of pain.
OPERATOR: And it's right in her stomach?

    OPERATOR: Okay.
MALE: Okay. I got it. Where's the ambulance?
OPERATOR: The ambulance is well on the way, okay.
    MALE: Okay.
MALE: Don't get up. Don't get up sweetie.
    FEMALE: God. (crying)
MALE: I know. The ambulance is coming sweetie. Don't worry, don't worry.

    MALE: Yeah. Yeah.
OPERATOR: You said westbound on Northline?
    MALE: No. Northline's a Crescent. I don't know if it's here. I don't know these side streets.
OPERATOR: Okay. What did he look like? Was he black, white?
MALE: Black, white, Hispanic? What is he?
    FEMALE: He's white (crying).
MALE: He's white. He's white. What's he wearing? What's he wearing?

    MALE: Yes. Are you okay?
    OPERATOR: Okay.
MALE: Hurry up. Yeah. She's starting not to respond now.
OPERATOR: Okay. We, we're well on the way. Don't try and push her to talk if she's not comfortable.
    MALE: Okay.
OPERATOR: That's okay. I don't want to put her in any type of -
MALE: â??Okay. I don't know what to do. I can't find the wound's not really bleeding that much. I can't find it. Ahâ??

MALE: Okay. Yeah. She's starting to spit up. Yeah. I've got a guy here.
    OPERATOR: Are youâ??
MALE: â?? Go to the end of Hollinger â??
OPERATOR: â??And see where the stab wound is?
MALE: Oh. There it is. I see, I see something here.
    OPERATOR: Okay.
MALE: Okay. I got pressure on one stab wound. Did you only get stabbed once honey? She's totally unconscious now. Oh my God.
AMBULANCE DRIVER: I'm looking for them.
    OPERATOR: Okay.
    MALE: I don't know. I think she . . . I don't know. F---. You gotta (sic) get here.

MALE: Yeah. I got pressure on the wound. Okay, come on baby. Come on. Come on. Come on. Okay. I see I see more coughs coming. Jesus Christ. I can't believe this. Okay. I see the ambulance.
    OPERATOR: You see the ambulance?
MALE: Yeah. Okay. Should I let you go?
OPERATOR: Just wait till they get right beside you, okay?
    MALE: Okay.
When the ambulance arrived at the scene at 6:22 p.m., Stefanie was VSA (vital signs absent).

That man deserves a hug and a thank you. He tried to comfort her in her last moments. At least she wasn't alone.

So little blood? I take it that there was lots of internal bleeding?

I wondered about that too. I would've thought that with six stab wounds, at least one of them fatal, she would've bled more.

And that poor guy seems so frustrated, at the ambulance not getting there sooner. I guess she was half way down a street, and without being able to see an intersection, he wouldn't be able to see any street signs.

Yeah she definitely had a heavy winter coat on, which would've absorbed a lot of the blood, I suppose...

Still, if only he'd been able to give better directions, I can't help but wonder if she'd still be alive. 10 minutes is a loooooong time to wait for an ambulance.

That transcript is beyond chilling. Followed by her brother's tribute to her, I'm just sick to my stomach. I have absolutely no sympathy for "youthful offenders" who commit heinous crimes like this. They know exactly what they are doing.

I realize this is a very old story now but I just found the thread. One thing I caution you all to remember is that you never know the whole story from the news. I am Stefanie's mother and I did speak to Melissa T's mother but it didn't come out in court so you wouldn't know about it. I also spoke to David's mother.
Nothing could have stopped these two from killing my daughter. Be careful how you assume things and when there is court to think of, families can't say anything publicly for fear of losing the case. It could be quite upsetting for a parent to read when things are already hard enough for them.

How can a prison sentence be called a life sentence if the girl is eligible for parole in seven years and the boy in ten years? That is all the court thinks a person should serve for a premeditated murder of an innocent fourteen year old girl? No wonder Melissa was jealous, Stefanie was cute as can be and Melissa is dumpy looking and ugly and apparently as ugly on the inside as on the outside. David certainly is no prize either. That poor girl died in a horrible way over something stupid. I agree with some others here who commented that this case sounds a lot like the Texas cadet murder case. What does a person have to be convicted of to get a long prison sentence in Canada?

    To Patricia Hung,
I know it probably means less than nothing from some faceless stranger on the internet, but I am truly, very sorry for your loss.
Your impact statement made my heart ache. I will keep you in my prayers tonight.

Hope it's not overturned...that would be a pisser.

Wonder if Todorovic is receiving excellent mental health care. She appears to need it. Of course, we all know how successful and rehabilitative prison time is for everybody. What a failed system in so many ways

She should have absolutely no access to anything. Keep her locked up 24/7.
