The playground plane crash happened. Richie' s best friend was crushed to death by one of the plane's engines. There is a thread somewhere on this site about the crash. Maybe if you Google Pacoima,...
Great find, SRV fan! This is yet another example of Buddy's timeless songs.
I forget where I saw or heard this, but Little Richard tells of being invited to Buddy Holly's mother's home. She wasn't thrilled that he was bringing an African American to dinner, but he allegedly...
The music was excellent. Since this is the pledge drive time for PBS stations, they tend to re-run things quite a bit.
I'm watching the 75th birthday tribute to Buddy on a PBS station that's airing during their pledge drive. Probably MEH wouldn't allow them to use Buddy's name or tunes unless her aging ass was seated...
Since MEH makes her living off being a widow, it's only fitting that she looks like the fictional corpse bride.
Absolutely right, Kyouya. Buddy's legacy deserves much better respect than this. Certainly MEH can see that his music will live on longer than most people's memory of her and her golddigging? For her...
Maybe I'm missing something besides a brain, but I couldn't find the article that had the juicy snippets about MEH, the golddigger going through Buddy's things and liking vodka for breakfast. I was...
I agree, bulletnose. Yesterday I made a total ass of myself on the Caylee Anthony thread due to my own ignorance. This is how we learn, we make a mistake and someone gives the correct answer.
To answer question #!, as Hank Hill would say, "Well Alright."
Now that I've read the posting about Dwyer saying something that upset the Valenzuela (Valens) family, I wonder if Bud tried to suggest that Ritchie was afraid of flying (was acting nervous before...
LMAO! Good one, but there's no reason to insult sea cows. :p
Are we seeing the section of Buddy's brain that was eviscerated? It does look like Buddy's head by that man's feet. To the right of what appears to be Buddy's head is what I think might be his brain.
No pun intended, but I couldn't make heads or tails out of the pic. Was Buddy's head split into two or three large sections?
Thanks, mrsr. Although I'm a fan of Buddy's music, I'm not as well-versed on the crash.
OK, now I'm confused about how the plane's trajectory. I know it cartwheeled, but how did it land on the other side of the fence without knocking down a section of the fence when Bopper was ejected?
OMG! I've never seen this pic before. Bopper must have been through absolute hell in those final moments, his body is twisted unnaturally and I see bloodstains on his boxer shorts, at least it looks...
Buddy was an incredibly talented songwriter and arranger. There's a sense that he had only started on changing music. It's so tragic that the world never had the opportunity to find out what Buddy...
That's one cool shirt! I could "Rave On" and on about it. I know how you feel about Buddy, I feel the same way about Freddie Mercury. Did you ever see the musical, "Buddy" ? It played in my hometown...
If I recall correctly, at least half of Buddy's brain was eviscerated upon contact with the ground.
Damn! That poor guy was mangled.
Plus, since Valens landed on his face, the brain matter probably eviscerated from the front of his head at the site of impact with the ground, right?
Thanks, Gary.
If I remember correctly from things I've read, was Buddy's brain eviscerated from impact with the ground?
I hope someone saved it. The death hag in me is very curious.
Thanks, Gary. Those are great additions to the thread. I love the pic of Waylon and Buddy and I'm guessing it's Buddy giving the finger since you can see Waylon's hand in the pic.
Gary, have you ever considered writing a book about Buddy?
Thanks,Gary. I always wondered about tiny bone fragments from Ritchie or Buddy since their brains were basically eviscerated from their skulls on impact.
Gary, speaking of the site, did the farmer who owned the field ever discover any bone fragments when he plowed after the crash? You have an endless supply of knowledge on the subject, so I know I'm...
Fantastic pics! I wish I could've been there that night to see them perform, but I wasn't born until 1965.
Damn! That makes more sense to me than anything else I've read.
Please 'spill' your theory, Gary. Inquiring Death Hags want to know!
