I've heard the same. I live two and a half hours from the Smokies, and we have black bears in the woods all over the foothills. Probably, because we are overrun with deer.

Whoever posted that photo of the bear needs to do some wildlife research. Grizzlies live in the northwest, not in the Smokies. Duh. It was a black bear that snacked on that dead meat.
